Out and About: City Opera House, Downtown Traverse City

Location, location, location... that's what they say when it comes to real estate, but I think the same thing applies to your wedding venue.  Not only is it important to pick a location that is special to you as a couple, but it never hurts to leave your guests in awe either.  The City Opera, located in Downtown Traverse City, will do just that. "The City Opera House is the oldest of three historically intact opera houses in Michigan, opening its doors in 1891.  It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and was soon after restored to its former grandeur by a group of committed, inspired citizens.  Noteworthy decor includes a dramatic barrel vault ceiling, fresco paintings, gold leaf accents, and Victorian styling, all which make the City Opera House a one-of-a-kind venue for a variety of events."

Today the "Grand Ole Lady", as she is lovingly known, serves as a popular venue for everything from plays, concerts and operettas, to gala balls, conventions, banquets, and weddings.  This year, the always popular, Downtown Bridal Show will take place at the City Opera House on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from noon to four o'clock in the afternoon.  With over thirty-five vendors being represented and a fashion show taking place at quarter past three o'clock, the bridal show should not be missed.   For more information on either the City Opera House or the Downtown Bridal Show click on the links at left.
