Most brides can't imagine their wedding day without the perfect dress so we asked Cindy Whitley of Petoskey Bridal Salon for some advice to give brides looking for that perfect gown. Take a look at her answers before your trip to the bridal salon and you're sure to have a great experience!
Why is it helpful to have an appointment and a consultant's assistance when looking for a wedding gown?
It's helpful to have an appointment because we can schedule a time that can be devoted to one bride. A consultant can provide a wealth of information regarding styles, body shapes, specific designers, and custom options that can help you create the dress of your dreams.
Do you recommend doing any research before arriving to your appointment?
Yes – magazines and Internet searches can be very helpful to help you narrow down options available, specific designers, and features that you like and don’t like in a gown. Be careful about ordering your bridal gown from an online source. There's a lot of value in seeing the actual gown, workmanship of a designer, and reputation of a business. An online error, or an inexpensive designer “copy” can make the day of your dreams into a nightmare.
Who should brides bring with them when looking for their wedding gown?
You should bring a close family member and friend whose opinion you trust. Too many opinions can make the process much more difficult and add unneeded stress on a bride.
What should brides look for when buying their wedding gown?
A style that flatters their figure and fits the theme of the wedding, at a price that fits within their budget. A seasoned bridal consultant can be an enormous help.
Any advice for grooms that need tuxes, or brides that are helping their groom look for a tux?
The bride and groom need to choose the style first. Once the tuxedos are picked out the groomsmen need a deadline to get measurements in.
Thank you for this valuable information Cindy, and good luck to all the brides searching for their wedding gown!
