Real Wedding: Andrea & Eric

Today's real wedding takes us to the vibrant radiance of Old Mission Peninsula in June. With beautiful photos from Dan Stewart, eclectic, retro decor, and a fresh berry cake from Simply Sweet by Jessica, this wedding is sure to brighten your Tuesday!

From Photographer, Dan Stewart: Andrea & Eric, high school sweethearts, had an extremely gorgeous wedding day. Starting off the day, Andrea got ready with her bridesmaids by her side dressed in matching floral robes, whereas Eric relaxed with his groomsmen enjoying a beer on an outside porch. The two planned a first look, but Eric surprised his bride to be with a sweet, heartfelt note when the two met. Joining the couple, the bridal party made their pictures memorable and enjoyable through all the laughter and silliness, like using small, frosted cookies as props.

When the time came for the ceremony, Andrea was escorted by both her mother and father down an outdoor aisle lined with bird cages holding fresh flowers. Eric was absolutely captivated by her and having to remove his glasses, he wiped some tears. The ceremony was very personal and laughter was a theme throughout the entirety of it. When the couple took their first kiss as husband and wife, they walked down the aisle hand in hand as their guests threw dried flower petals on them.

They headed to the reception in a amazing white, wooden barn where they cut their wedding cake topped with berries and danced under a huge golden chandelier, all the while laughing through the night. It was certainly a day full of joy, love, and great memories. Congratulations Andrea & Eric. May God bless your marriage!

Out & About: Potter's Bakery

It is my belief that the best way to enjoy a doughnut…is any way. But to be fair, the fresher the doughnut, the happier the tummy! I took a trip on over the Potter's Bakery early this morning to appreciate, through my taste buds, the early mornings that the lovely ladies and gents go through every day to bring Traverse City the best doughnuts, pastries, cookies and cakes!

Besides being a favorite among locals, Potters Bakery has been locally owned and operated for over 80 years, and always have a trained, experienced and kind staff on hand to help with any of your sweets needs. Although their location has moved a couple of times, and grown by another, the Potters Bakery on the corner of Rose and Eighth St. has stood strong for 64 years, and has continued to be owned and operated by the Potter family.

No matter their location, they always seem to be busy, so get your parking spot while you can! You may also want to call ahead if you’re concerned about Potters having a specific kind of pastry, or to make sure their cake decorator will be there to discuss design and pricing of your wedding cake. Each wedding cake is specially designed to the needs of the couple with colors, textures, decorations and frostings, so it’s important to be able to speak with the right person.

The pricing is right, their technique is superb, and their flavors are to die for. To see exactly how talented their team is, and perhaps for some inspiration, take a look at their online gallery. From simple to extravagant, Potters seems to be doing it all right, especially in the eyes of The Knot, who named Potters one of the ‘Best Of’ in wedding cakes for 2010. Give Potters a call to get started on making your wedding reception he sweetest it can be.
