Aimee and Benjamin's Mediterranean-inspired wedding food was a rustic, delicious element of the event. The focus of the appetizers was charcuterie, as per Benjamin's request.  Pancettta and coppa were served, along with venison lonza. Grilled artichokes, local goat cheese stuffed pappedew peppers, marinated gigante beans, olives, and handmade crackers from 9 Bean Rows all served as lovely accompaniments. Succulent braised lamb shank with local fried garlic, served on Michigan white beans from Carlson-Arbogast Farm, graced the entree menu. The lamb also came from a fantastic local farm, S & S Lamb. Our climate in Northern Michigan really lends itself to Mediterranean food, so this menu was a perfect choice for a Leelanau County wedding.

LATE SUMMER HERBAL FLORAL TOUCHES

In addition to a pretty wedding palette, one of my favorite details from Aimee & Benjamin's Omena, Michigan wedding were the late summer herbal floral touches added to the centerpieces. Sprigs of mint, fennel and flowering dill were incorporated, along with pink dahlia, zinnia, white hydrangea, and cosmos.  Aimee's bouquet was also mix of white hydrangea with ivory and pale pink roses as well as pops of green, and was bound with jute twine and satin ribbon. The palette carried over throughout other wedding details, especially the table setting. The floral added such a relaxed yet chic element to this wedding at Cherry Basket Farm.

Aimee & Benjamin's  Cherry Basket Farm wedding in Omena, Michigan, was a lovely event with such a great vibe! Rich in detail and beautifully laid back, the crowd enjoyed the best Cherry Basket Farm has to offer. I really enjoyed working with Aimee and Benjamin- they knew what they wanted from the beginning of the planning process, which made my job easy. They were looking for an intimate, laid back outdoor celebration, focused on food, friends and family. Many of the guests traveled from afar (Spain!) to attend, and had not met one another. A Friday barbecue featuring house made porchetta from our in ground-oven was a fantastic kick-off event for the guests.  For wedding day, a long cocktail hour and a menu that was designed to promote mingling all aided in the setting the scene. Aimee created beautiful and chic details with her stationary, linen, fashion, and floral choices. Coffee, local fruit pies and a dance party in the barn rounded out the blissful evening.
