What's a wedding hashtag? It's a hashtag on Instagram that's specific to your wedding. When someone clicks on the hashtag they can see all the photos you and your guests have been sharing!
I love wedding hashtags. They are today's disposable cameras. Guests can post photos to the hashtag and you get to see them instantly, without waiting for film to be developed or pictures from your photographer. Plus the guests snap different aspects of your wedding then you see or your photographer captures. They take group selfies and funny candids of things you may not even know happened.
As vendors we have a great time with hashtags. We post pictures of the set-up, decor details, and things that we love about your wedding!
A few hashtag tips:
The best hashtags are unique ones. Unless you want to share your wedding hashtag with a dozen other weddings, chose something that hasn't been used before. It could be some combination of your names or initials, a cute pun, or an inside joke.
Make sure your guests know about the hashtag. This can be done with Instagram cards on the cocktail tables, framed hashtag signs by the escort cards, a hanging chalkboard sign, on your welcome notes, etc.
Start your hashtag before the wedding. Guests love to see you (they're coming to your wedding after all!) and they'll love to see those behind the scenes planning moments when you can't get the spelling on the chalkboard sign right or have finally finished putting together sixty welcome bags! Some couples do a count down to their wedding on the hashtag, with pictures of themselves and how many days to go before they're married. If you want to do this, I recommend including your hashtag in your invites so people know about it early on.
We at Sincerely, Ginger got in the hashtag game this season with our team hashtag, #goteamsgw. I am definitely biased in how much I love it so don't take my word for it, check out this beautiful collection of images for yourself!
Some other great hashtags we saw this season:
#cheerstothecharltons, #likeearlyinthemorning, #hellogeorges, #lauraplusnadira, #heekintofey, #sikedtobesikes, #marriedmaxwells
