My name is Amber Jaeger, small business owner/bartender/auntie/dog mama. I was raised in Traverse City, went to Central Michigan University, and lived in Denver, CO for 5 years. I wear all the hats, as most small business owners do, I am owner, operator, manager, marketing professional, bartender, etc. I am the one who guides you with decision making from the first quote to the final execution on wedding day! Our daily operation is personal to me and I am often on site at events. From intimate themed parties for a few to large events for a few hundred, our professional, liquor liability insured bartenders will make your party run smoothly, and ensure your guests are served safely and to the highest standard of service. With A Twist Bartending Service can help you plan every aspect of beverage service for your party. We can help you with alcohol ordering, specialty drink planning, and every item you need to serve the drinks you want.
How did you get into the wedding industry?
A bar manager and friend of mine, the creator of the With A Twist brand, asked me to bartend some weddings with him when I lived in Denver. This was my first glimpse into the "With A Twist" way of bartending weddings and knew that it would be a great business model to bring to Traverse City. At the time, Traverse City was just beginning to become a destination wedding hot spot. A few years later, he was ready to help me do that and I decided it was time to move "home".
How would you describe your style?
Classic contemporary, pieces that are classic and long lasting, but with my own touch of originality & an occasional trend.
What is your favorite part of a wedding?
How could anyone only have one favorite part? I'll narrow it down to two...A really good maid of honor/best man speech (most recent was an entire song written by the maid of honor about the newly wed couple). Custom touches that are "out of the box" and completely a part of the bride and groom's life (ie. whiskey tasting bar because that's what they drink, cookies as dessert because the bride loves cookies)
What are some of your favorite trends from last wedding season?
Gold, rose gold, and more gold. Specialty bars, tasting bars, & tables offering many dessert options.
What advice do you have for couples about choosing a bartending service?
There are few companies that cater exclusively to bar service and can provide you with true professionals and complete customization. With A Twist focuses on every aspect of your beverage service making it stand out and be exactly what you need. Make sure your bartenders are industry professionals, are certified, and carry liquor liability insurance.
How far in advance should a couple look into booking your services?
We have weddings for 2017 booked now, but I can also book people only a month out. There have been many times that clients call and need someone last minute; I pride us on our ability to "make it happen."
What advice do you have for couples about the planning process?
Ask a million questions. The more details you iron out with each vendor (or your coordinator does) the less likely you are to have anything fall through the cracks. Industry professionals are the only ones to think about little details like..."Where to store your beverages before service." "Who will provide trash bins." "How much wine do I need?".
Venues that allow you to bring in your own vendors will allow you more customization and bringing in your own alcohol will save a lot of money.
What do you love about living and working in Northern Michigan?
I love the 4 seasons...Leaves & sweaters, skiing & snow, flowers & rain showers, weddings & sunshine. Beauty is always surrounding us, and "getting away" is just a short drive in any direction.
