Hello! My name is Rayan Anastor and I am very blessed to enjoy life with my husband and three amazing children. We are a family that loves to explore, travel, and visit places around the world; all the while documenting our journey with photos.
As wedding photographer, it is an honor that my job is to photograph people celebrating one of the most loving days of their lives. My approach is the same approach I take with my family: to tell your story through images that convey love, emotion, and joy during your wedding day and engagement session. With creativity and an artistic vision, the goal is to capture your story as it unfolds naturally; documenting the details and candid moments while creating portraits that are a work of art.
How did you get into the wedding industry?
As a child, I was always the subject of my father’s photography. Eventually, I developed my own interest in photography and, while I initially focused on landscapes and travel, I gradually began to incorporate people when my children were born. The photography of people and landscapes together is what brought me to the wedding industry. Sharing the incredible moments with a couple on their wedding day is what I truly enjoy!
How would you describe your style?
My style is classical romance, with artistic elements that are true to the moments of the day.
My approach is unique and special because it is focused on you as a couple. I photograph behind the scenes, allowing you to truly experience the present moment of your wedding day. At times I will take a more active role to create some beautiful and artistic photographs, all the while doing what I do best – seeking authentic moments, beautiful light, and raw emotion, and blending them all together in your photographs.
What is your favorite part of a wedding?
Each and every wedding is unique and no two are the same. I love to get to know the couple because it creates a trusting relationship that leads to more natural photographs. My relationship with the couple is built through communication, from the very first contact until the last click of the camera is wonderful and unique – and my favorite part is the complete experience.
What are some of your favorite trends from last wedding season?
I do not have a favorite trend in particular. Rather I love to focus on the moments and emotion experienced through out the wedding day. Trends come and go, but true love and emotion between a bride and groom is something that will carry on for generations.
What advice do you have for couples about choosing a photographer?
Your wedding day is a once in a lifetime event. Choosing a photographer is about finding someone whose work you are drawn to, and who can capture the emotions and moments of the day.
This process is highly personal and isn’t about crossing off an item on your “to-do” list. When you hire someone whose work you love and who understands your vision for the day, then you will have found your photographer.
How far in advance should a couple look into booking your services?
I book anywhere from 9-18 months prior to the wedding. The earlier the better, especially for prime wedding season (May – October).
What advice do you have for couples about the planning process?
Enjoy every minute of it and let the planning process be an extension of what you love in life. When you create the wedding you are dreaming of with the person you love, you are creating a day you will always remember. Your joy and love for the day will be something you will want to relive through photographs again and again.
What do you love about living and working in Northern Michigan?
The peaceful beauty that the area elicits is indescribable. I grew up living on Lake Michigan, and for me, there is nothing like the peaceful serenity it brings. The beautiful lakes, sand dunes, orchards, vineyards, forests, and incredible towns are why I love Northern Michigan!
