Surrounded and supported by family and friends, Wendy and Chris made it official! It was July 21st, 2014, the summer solstice. Rain threatened earlier in the day, but Wendy was determined for Leelanau School beach to be her wedding site. The weather cooperated and the cloudy day was stunning. Wendy is such a sweet and loving person and Chris with his big heart and generous smile makes it easy to see why everyone was eager to help their day be perfect!
The ceremony was held at Leelanau School, from which Wendy is a graduate. Wendy and her bridal party got ready inside the school’s observatory, which held special memories and a peacefulness she wanted for her day. Wendy’s dress was truly unique with romantic blue floral embellishments and just a touch of sparkle. The arch that Chris and Wendy got married under was harvested from her home and put together by her dad. The programs and invitations where from Etsy.
The reception was held under a tent on Chris' parents property. For decor, Wendy got lots of ideas from Pinterest, including having the guests’ names on the little “clothesline” as they entered the tent. She had custom coffee cups for favors that family and friends used throughout the reception. Guests mingled outside at café tables and games were set up in the field while the meal was cooked on site at an open grill. They danced and celebrated late into the night. Those who shared the couple’s love of the outdoors were welcome to camp on the property and stay for the weekend to explore.
